I never knew your God.

I never knew your God, the God that loves me, that forgives me, that accepts me.  I never knew Him.

I never knew your God, the God that reaches out, that carries on, that stands up for the defenseless.  I never knew Him.

I never knew your God, the God that sets free, that does not condemn, in Whom life is not a series of boundaries but rather a boundless adventure.  I never knew Him.

I never knew your God, the God that sacrifices all, that loves unconditionally, that crosses over from glory to humanity, a cross to carry.  I never knew Him.

I never knew your God, the God that calls, that includes even the poorest of the poor, that touches even the untouchable. I never knew Him.

I never knew your God, the God that wants me, Who wishes to commune, that prepares a table and invites me to His banquet.  I never knew Him.

I never knew your God, the God that pursues me, that desires me as I am, that overlooks my iniquity and shame and sees perfection.  I never knew Him.

I never knew your God, until I knew you.

To whom are you being Jesus today?
