The Gift of Today

Each day is a gift from God.  But as a good father, He does not simply give the gift.  He experiences it with us.  He does not give us the day and dismiss us to “have fun figuring that one out.”

Let’s face it - a day can be a pretty hard thing to figure out.  Some days are like a basketball - unwrap, dribble and shoot.  No problem.  But other days are more like those model airplanes with thousands of different pieces, many of them small enough to be invisible to the naked eye.  All pieces must be used with only one way to put them together.

But our God is a wonderful Father. He gives us the day, watches with excitement as we open it and then stands ready to help put the parts in their place.  He makes sure all the necessary pieces of the day are right there before us.  He lays them out on his work table and works with us on getting everything fit together.

He does not take over the job of putting the day together.  He helps us to assemble it, knowing that it is the accomplishment of a successful day that brings joy to our hearts.  Once we make that happen our loving God rejoices with us, sitting back and reveling in the day with joy in His heart.
