Right This Way

Sometimes we may need help finding the love of God.  Not that God would hide His love, but sometimes it is difficult for us to find even something as immense as God’s love for us.

Think of it as a theater with the house lights down and the stage lights up.  The performers know that the audience is in their seats.  They are right in front of them.  They were there at the start of the performance and have not gone anywhere.  But seeing them through the stage lights’ glare is impossible.

Sometimes the stage lights of the world keep us from seeing something that is so plainly right in front of us.  God’s love surrounds us.  It is evident all around us.  We can realize its presence in our lives if we will simply recognize that it is there.  But the world has the lights on high so that all else is drowned out and all we can feel is the loneliness of being without God’s love.

This is why Paul prayed for the Thessalonians that the Lord “would direct your hearts to the love of God…”  These were believers that Paul wrote to in the book of Thessalonians.  These were people who had experienced the Lord’s saving grace and love.  But Paul continued to pray that they would be directed to God’s love.

Why?  Because the world has the tendency to block our view of God’s Love for us.  Paul knew that on occasions we need to have an usher help us to that place of recognizing the love of God in our life.  It is times when you are lonely and feeling unloved that you need to remember that there is One - a steadfast and faithful Usher - available to show you the way to love.  Ask Him for directions and He will show you just the right way.
