Idol Burdens
The burden (idols) we choose to carry are like things carried on beasts of burden. Like oxen or mules carrying heavy loads, our idols are burdens with which we choose to load ourselves down.
Our heavy load wears on us and eventually breaks us. They crush us when we falter and squash the life from us as we attempt to bare our idols, day in and day out.
They are too heavy. We are too weak.
Jesus said “my burden is light.” He instructs replacing the heavy burden of idol loads with His yoke (Matthew 11:28-30). Go to him, you burdened, worn out soul. Drop your idols; pick up an easy yoke with a light burden. Find rest.
