No Lip
God does not want lip service.
What is the difference between true religion and being religious? Lip service.
Too often we humans find ourselves talking instead of doing. Religion is not talking about faith. The religion of God is about acting upon the faith that you have been given.
The lip service of man causes people to run from God. The hypocrisy found in religion is the primary product of that same lip service. When man talks but does not do, his lip service breeds hypocrisy.
James enlightens us on what true “pure” religion looks like. It will “visit orphans and widows in their trouble” and it will “keep oneself unblemished from the world.” No words here.
