Don't Want Your Catalog
It seems that every time I get ready to do my morning meetings with Jesus I start with all the things I have done wrong. Not just since we last met but going back as far as my little mind will carry me. It’s like cataloging my sins for Jesus.
Do you ever get catalogs in the mail? We do - everyday! We get catalogs for things that we signed up for 25 years ago and haven’t had any association with since that time. It’s like these organizations have a vault of names and addresses that never gets refreshed or lost! Sign up and you will be in eternal “Mailer List” hell. Talk about ‘til death do us part?!
And the catalogs we get! Everything from charities to women’s lingerie. Nobody needs that. Can’t you just keep it in the store? I get office supply catalogs at home. They take up half of our mailbox space and leave my important mail all jammed up in a corner of the mailbox. Come on! I don’t need a pallet jack at my house! What do you do with those unwanted catalogs and mailers when they end up at your home? Like the barbarians at the gate, printing press invaders wanting to eat up your time and take your life! I tell you what I would like to do with them - staple them to a dartboard and pierce them through with a thousand poison tipped darts. But that would not hurt them and it would take up too much of my time. So I just throw them in the trash.
Now, back to my topic before I write something unwholesome. As I was saying, I catalog my sins for Jesus. But, Jesus doesn’t want my catalog. He wants a relationship with me. Confess your sin and move on because that is not where Jesus intends on staying. He doesn’t want our times together to be full of stuff that He is not interested in or that He has already dealt with in the past. So, it is up to me. Jesus has already trashed my sin catalog. Now, am I willing to take Him off the Mailer List? Trash the catalog and do away with the list.
