Deeds of Faithless Men
David makes a declaration in Psalm 101. He is setting his heart on integrity and committing to walking in it. As part of this declaration David states that he will keep “vile thing(s)” out of his eyesight and he will prevent the “deeds of faithless men” from clinging, or being associated with and affecting, him.
Faithlessness promotes a life lived outside of what is right and just. A person without faith will follow a path laid out by the world. The world does not blaze trails of integrity. The path of the world is paved with the intentions of man, sinful, fallen intentions.
If one is to walk in integrity it must be a walk based on faith. When a person has faith they must choose to walk in the path of God, not because they are better or more worthy, but simply because they have chosen to have faith in God.
Indeed the product of such a walk is greater. Indeed integrity adds blessing to a life and inspires toward greatness. But those pilgrims on the path directed by God are no greater than any of the pilgrims walking on the path of the world. They just have faith.
